Fire protection planning

Innovative fire protection concepts are the product of an interdisciplinary collaboration between all parties involved in the planning. For individual projects, we develop custom-made overall concepts. In this process, we consider the optimal interaction of structural, technical and organisational fire protection. Where necessary, we use the latest simulation technology to be able to economically develop balanced solutions.

Fire protection is a markedly cross-sectoral issue and, with the existing requirements, affects many construction sectors. When the issue is noted early, surprisingly simple solutions can usually be developed within the team.  The early involvement of fire protection leads to greater planning, deadline and cost security.

We accompany our customers from the feasibility analysis, through all of the planning phases, up to the ongoing operation, including the periodic Integral Tests in the operating phase.

Using modern CAD programs, we create all kinds of plans that are necessary or required in fire protection and contribute our expertise to the BIM models of the planning partners when necessary.

Our services:

  • Fire protection concepts including fire control plans
  • Smoke extraction concepts
  • Concepts for fire protection on construction sites
  • Escape route concepts with escape and rescue route plans
  • Fire service deployment documentation
  • Fire control concepts
  • Fire matrix and fire zone plans
  • Planning and implementation of Integral Tests

Fire protection consulting

Owners and users of buildings must take the necessary organisational and personnel measures to ensure fire safety. Through status analyses of existing constructions, we support them in identifying deviations from the current standards and guidelines and security loopholes in their buildings.  With the aid of catalogues of measures and plan representations, we highlight which immediate short-term and long-term measures have to be considered.  This enables customers to take fire protection into account at an early stage when making modifications or changing the use of the building.

We are available as a contact person for fire protection safety officers (SIBE). Due to our independent “view from the outside”, we can provide very good support and valuable input accordingly.

Our services:

  • Quality assurance QSS1 – QSS4
  • Status analyses of existing constructions
  • Building consultation
  • Fire protection and security audits
  • Risk analyses
  • Fire protection expertise
  • Second opinions
  • Fire protection training

VERIFICATION METHODS IN FIRE PROTECTION

In many cases, standard concepts in fire protection are a proven, cost-effective solution and provide high planning security. However, not every situation can be dealt with using standard solutions.  For this reason, there is the possibility, or rather, it is obligatory, to create verification methods from an engineering perspective. These show that the protection goals of the fire protection standard are achieved equally thanks to the planned measures.

Due to the expertise of our expert teams, we can create verification methods in the field of smoke extraction and evacuation and, in coordination with the fire protection authorities and combined with standard solutions, develop them into an overall concept.

Our services:

  • Smoke extraction concepts
  • Smoke extraction verification based on CFD simulations
  • Evacuation verification based on microscopic models
  • Warm and cold smoke tests

Quality assurance in fire protection

As stated in the VKF fire protection standard in Art. 17, all affected individuals must ensure effective quality assurance in fire protection throughout the entire life cycle of the building or facility. The requirements of quality assurance comply with the criteria for fire protection requirements, facilities for technical fire protection as well as the verification methods used. The measures for quality assurance in fire protection must be checked regularly and must be adapted as and when required.

We support our customers from the first ideas to the final handling of defects and thus optimise the quality of fire protection in the long term. With our quality fire protection experts, we cover all quality assurance levels required by the fire protection standard.  Through appropriate quality assurance concepts, all parties involved can achieve their essential contribution to fire protection quality. With an open and constructive exchange within the team, we create the necessary acceptance for the requirements around fire protection.

Due to our long-standing construction practice, our interdisciplinary expert team and through the open exchange with the appropriate fire protection authorities, we are able to develop and jointly implement workable, accepted solutions.

Our services:

  • Quality assurance QSS1 – QSS4
  • Quality assurance concepts
  • Quality assurance inspections in the implementation
  • Testing of pilot series
  • Accompaniment during structural inspections
  • Compiling the fire protection documents
  • Creation of the fire protection declaration of compliance
